Truffles of Africa produces and sells truffle products. These include:

  • Saplings inoculated with black truffle (tuber melanosporum)
  • Miniature truffle trees in pots for verandahs

Our trees are produced using technical expertise based on cutting-edge French and Australian production technology. Truffles of Africa also draws on the knowledge and skills of soil scientist Dr Alan Manson and independent fungi experts Dr Jo Dames and Neil van Rij. We are also in regular contact with various global truffle experts and truffle farmers.

    Our customers are:

  • Farmers who want to plant truffle plantations
  • Smallholders and gardeners who want a small truffle orchard
  • Friends and family looking for a unique gift
  • Restaurants and food outlets
  • Donna Hornby is the Director of Truffles of Africa. In 2006 she led an EU-funded study revealing that parts of South Africa are suitable for truffle production and that a truffle industry would make a valuable contribution to export agriculture.

Donna, who holds two Masters degrees from the University of Natal, says truffles hold the promise of great fortune and combine passion, adventure and mystique.
